Road Construction and Closure Information

Governor Newsom has issued a "stay at home" executive order to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Construction of public transportation projects is considered an essential service and is exempt from this order. Work will continue on the I-5 (SR-73 to El Toro Road) as scheduled.

Because the I-5 (SR-73 to El Toro Road) Improvement Project is included in one the 16 federal critical infrastructure sectors (i.e., transportation), construction work is continuing as usual.

Project safety officials are following federal and local health guidelines in advising project team members to wash hands frequently, avoiding touching their face, advising workers and team members who may feel sick to stay at home, practicing social distancing when small group meetings are convened, etc.

Construction-related meetings by teleconference are being arranged where practical. Given this is an active outdoor construction project with heavy machinery and materials overhead and on the ground, safety perimeters were already established to allow only construction project team members, workers and suppliers onto the job site.

We will continue to take guidance from state and federal officials and work to ensure the health and safety of employees and the public is our number one priority on projects. We also are closely monitoring the rapidly evolving coronavirus pandemic and will keep you updated if there are any changes to our projects.
