Effective January 3, 2023, all building permit applications and inspection requests must be submitted through the City's online Permit Portal.

The Building & Safety Division is responsible for building and safety standards in the design, construction, use, and occupancy, of all buildings and structures in the City of Laguna Hills. The Division provides plan checking, permitting, and inspection services for new construction, additions, renovations, alterations, and remodels, to ensure all structures meet the life-safety standards of the Uniform Codes and related federal, state and City-adopted laws and ordinances. 

The Building & Safety Division works closely with Planning staff, Engineering staff, Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), and other related departments and agencies in the plan review process, permit issuance, and inspections for building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, solar, and Certificate of Use and Occupancy permits. The Division is currently provided under contract with the engineering and management consulting firm Charles Abbott Associates, Inc. (CAA).

Legacy Permit Holders (i.e. permits issued prior to 1/3/23) may continue to schedule inspections using the inspection form below. However, it is strongly encouraged that legacy permittees also schedule inspections using the City's new and streamlined self-service portal as it will ensure honoring of inspection requests on desired date and time.
